Offered for the first time ever on Ebay is my 1968 Ford Mustang GT390 fastback 4 speed!

The odometer reads 31,764 but I am sure it has rolled over once.

Data Codes: Body 63A Color R Trim 2y Date 04D DSO 13 Axle 5 Trans 5

I won?t bore anyone w/ a long story. Here are the fact & details:

Fully restored (6 years ago) Highland Green (R paint code) Black standard interior(originally 2y gold ) GT390, 4 speed transmission (trans code 5) which has been removed and replaced with a new Tremec World Class T-5 5 speed, (original Trans goes w/ car) Factory A/C (blows cold). PS, PDB, Console, Tilt steering wheel, Competition suspension (GT), AM Radio, Fold Down rear seat & Fog lamp grill. Original factory Buck tag is on the car as well as the vin# stamped onto the inner fender.

This is one the most highly documented (Buck tag, vin stamp, dash vin & door tag, Marti report) & sought after Mustangs in the country. Everyone desires to have a Bullitt clone. This is NOT a Bullitt clone. This a REAL HIGHLAND GREEN 68 GT390! This car is just as rare, if not more rare than a Shelby! Just unplug the factory fog lamps, slide out the grill & slide in the plain black (comes with the car) mesh grill & then you will have a Bullitt car complete with the Torque thrust wheels and JJZ 109 California plates!

History: I bought this car in 2002 & began a complete body off restoration. I have tons of photos of the entire process. The restoration included the following:

Body: Previous owner replaced the rear quarters & rear floors. I replaced the front floors & torque boxes. All body work was professionally done @ an award winning body shop. The body shop process took over 8 months from start to finish. The paint is outstanding, deep & straight. No issues.

Engine: the 390 v8 was rebuilt about 1,000 miles ago by the previous owner. Receipts show over $8,000.00 from the previous owner. The engine was rebuilt By Super Stang in New York. There are no mods on this engine with the exception of an Edlebrock alum. Intake. (Original goes w/ car) The carburetor is a new Holley 600 CFM w/ elect. Choke. (The original Holley goes w/ the car) An electronic ignition was added for better spark. The engine fires & runs perfectly with no issues, smoke ,etc w/ tremendous torque & power!

The A/C has been restored & blows cold. Brakes are perfect & the car drives & stops straight. This car is tight & strong. No rattles or squeaks.

The original 4 speed trans was removed for better performance. I installed a NEW WORLD CLASS TREMEC T-5 5 speed! Along with a new clutch, etc. This car shifts like a modern mustang. Easy operating clutch & a shift pattern that fits nicely into the factory console. The original 4 speed goes with the car & has the factory ID tag bolted on it.

Rear end: I removed the original 3:00-1 gears from the 9in housing & added a new Auburn 3:70 posi unit in its place. The original gears go with the car. The Transmission/rear end set up produces a tremendous power band along with a great cruising RPM of 2500 @ 65-70 mph. I recently added a new pair of Shelby style traction bars for better traction.

Note: All mechanical work performed on this car has been done by professional mechanics. There has been no ?backyard? work done on this car.

Undercarriage: The Aluminized 2 ¼ in exhaust and performance 2 chamber mufflers are new. The car was built @ the Metuchen plant in New Jersey. It stayed in the New York area until I bought it. The undercarriage is solid & strong. It has been undercoated its whole life. However, the floors & torque boxes were replace due some minor areas where the undercoating failed. Once the floors & torque boxes were replace, the undercarriage was re-undercoated to protect the car from moisture. However, the engine bay & front frames were never undercoated. Therefore, the original factory red primer still shows thru!

American Torque Thrust 15in. wheels w/ alum center caps are a beautiful must on this car. The spokes are painted the correct charcoal gray from Eastwood Paints. This was a tip from Dave Kunz. Dave?s GT390 has been in many videos & ads for Bullitt type cars. I have the original 14in factory wheels, center caps & trim rings.

The interior was the only thing I had to change on this car. Originally 2y nugget gold, I restored the entire interior to its current black. The original factory wood grain steering wheel as well as the aftermarket Grant wheel go with the car. I also have the original owners manual & dealer brochure for the car.

NOTE: I included pix of the car with both grills & steering wheels so it can be viewed as either a Bullitt &/or the original way it came from the factory.

Flaws: I believe there isn?t a car anywhere without some flaws. I will try & describe them as best as I can. There aren?t many.

Paint: No chips to speak of. The paint on this car is award winning & beautiful. Body lines are outstanding & the paint has a deep shine. The body shop process from start to finish took about 8 months. The gentleman who painted this car does one special project per year. He currently has a waiting list.

Engine: Other that a possible slight eraser-sized drip now & then, the engine has no flaws. The only other fluid drip is a small dime size drop from the power steering assist cylinder. (Very common)

Glass: The glass on the car is the original Carlite glass. The windshield has a few slight nicks mainly from age. The driver side door glass has some minor scratching from the door weather strip before it was replaced during the restoration. I could have replaced the glass but I hate to replace factory glass w/ aftermarket.

If you need certain pictures of the car or have any questions about it please let me know.
