1969 Mach 1 R Code with 428 SCJ Engine & Ram Air Shaker

Current Price: 26100.0
This nicely restored classic muscle car is a 1969 "R" code 428 CJ Mustang Mach 1 with ram air shaker hood, C-6 automatic transmission, 3.50 limited slip 9" rear end, Indian Fire exterior paint, with black interior. Some of the factory and/or added options include power steering, power brakes, front discs, fold-down back seat, black vinyl comfort weave high back seats, bolt-in door glass, tinted glass all around, AM radio, tachometer, clock, center console, rear window louvers, deck lid wing, front chin spoiler and Magnum 500 wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires (P205/60R15 in front and slightly wider P235/60R15 tires and rims in rear).
While the original motor for this car was a 428 CJ (with a 421T engine tag per build sheet) the car has a rebuilt 1969 428 SCJ motor (including the original engine tag 422-S) with original carburetor and external oil cooler. Engine rebuild is pretty much stock +0.030? rebuild with the exception of the Cam Research camshaft which has a more aggressive 0.540? intake and 0.565? exhaust lift and corresponding duration @ .050? of 226 degrees for intake and 234 degrees for exhaust, and a 109 degree lobe separation. Engine runs very strong and transmits power thru a
I acquired the car back in 1985 and began a complete ground up restoration in 1986 that lasted some 15 years when it was finally roadable in 2001. The restoration included a complete tear-down of just about everything on the car from exterior to interior to engine compartment to undercarriage. Nearly every part was replaced, rebuilt or refinished, and then assembled using very good condition original fasteners or new replacement fasteners. Any rusted metal was replaced and the unibody shell was sand blasted and refinished with an etching primer. Car was repainted the original Indian Fire copper metalic color in urethane basecoat and super glamour urethane clearcoat. Since I liked the hood painted Indian Fire surrounding the flat black shaker I kept it that way. To be factory correct the hood would need to be painted and striped with flat black. The interior includes new dash, new headliner, new carpet, new seat upholstery, new door panels, and the remaining interior items are either nice originals or have been refinished/restored.
Includes the original build sheet, a Deluxe Marti Report, owners manual, set of 1969 Ford shop manuals, original rear frame rail tie down brackets along with miscellaneous stuff to go with the car. On the typical 1-6 condition scale I would say this car is a solid 2.5 with most aspects of the car being very nice and ranging between a 2 and a 3. While many aspects of this car are in like new or slightly used condition it is not concours perfect and so there is a very reasonable reserve on this auction. I am selling this love of a classic muscle car because with 4 year old twins I just don?t get the chance to drive it anymore and it takes up garage space.
