Custom Motorcycle with ATV suspension, Suzuki Yamaha
Vehicle Description
Up for sale is a Suzuki GS500 Sport bike that has the front
a rear suspension from a Yamaha Blaster. This bike was professionally built and
the bike is 100% solid! I bought this bike with plans to finish the body work
but I have been laid off and have way too many projects to complete. This bike
is extremely fast and has huge potential to be an awesome custom ride! This is
your chance to have a custom head turning 4 wheel motorcycle that has all the
difficult technical work already completed, ride it as is or finish the body
work and this bike would be amazing.
I have track tested this bike at Busco
BeachNC, the frame welds and
suspension are solid! On the 8th mile packed dirt drag I had a friend run it a
half dozen runs without stopping, with absolutely no clutch slippage
overheating or any other problems. The guy that rode it weighed around 250 lbs
and the bike held together like a rock. The bike is mechanically ready to ride
reliably, with push button start, low oil light and neutral light. It starts every
time, and runs great with no knocking or engine noise. The bike wheel span is
over 6? long. Unfortunately we did not get any times but it was competing with
the fastest modified 4 wheelers out there even with the traction problems.
Putting a different sprocket on the back, to lower the gear ratio, would help
this bike dramatically on an 8th mile track because we only were
able to use all of 2nd gear and maybe ¼ of 3rd gear
before having to slow down.
It has a 6 speed transmission, and
the current sprockets gear it similar to the stock motorcycle gearing.
According to my research top speed was electronically limited to 115 mph. The
rear tires on the bike are not capable of these speeds, they are atv tires and
expand the faster you go. The front tires are radials and are capable of these
speeds. The wheel bearings are also capable of handling these speeds. The tires
and wheels that are currently on the bike are not balanced and shake at speeds
around 30-60 mph, I would highly recommend new wheels and rear tires to be able
to get the most out of this bike. As it is, it has so much power that it spins
both tires all the way down the packed dirt track, and even on pavement.
Traction issues would be solved with proper tires. The front tires are radials that are custom cut for sand track.
It does not have a VIN #, after
researching the engine block # I have determined that the motorcycle was a 1996
GS500E, and the suspension came from a Yamaha Blaster. (see pics of the stock
motorcycle, note the side covers are missing from this bike, available on ebay
for around $100). I was told I could get a VIN# from a wrecked GS500 and title
this bike for road use, I don?t know if it would be 100% street legal in Va
because of it having 4 wheels but you could get license plates for it. Of
course you would have to install lights (all the original motorcycle wiring
harnesses are in place for the headlights and turn signals etc.).
Only known issues are that the front tires have a slow leak, probably from the beads (no punctures), and the choke cable has not been hooked up (just have to reach under the gas tank to choke it on cold days). Also the motor side cover has a crack, there is no oil or fluids behind the crack so it doesn't cause any fluid leaks, and its covered with tape (these covers are readily available on ebay for around $30). I believe the front wheels might be bent but I'm sure you can straighten them out and they should balance out fine.
