If you are familiar with K.A.R., you know we are very discriminating when selecting Classic Mustangs to purchase.  This fastback is one of the nicest Mustangs we have purchased in a long time.  First of all, it is a 1-of-1 car meaning that it is the only 1968 Mustang built exactly like it.  This is documented by the Marti Report, which goes with the car.  It has been meticulously restored to like new status by a mechanical engineer who knew the value of attention to detail.  The restoration began with a solid California car that had not been exposed to the corrosive effects of winter road salt.  Every mechanical component is new or freshly rebuilt.  This includes the original engine, transmission, and rear differential.  All suspension, steering, and brakes are new.  Even the drive shaft has been balanced.  The air conditioning system is all new and functions as designed.  Nothing mechanical was left untouched.

 

As you can see in the pictures, the underside is exceptionally clean and nicely detailed.  Major components were cleaned thoroughly and where it made sense they were powder coated to prevent flash rust.  Components such as tie rods that do not lend themselves to powder coating were sprayed with a protective clear coat.  You will find no issues with the underside of this fastback.  It is truly better than new.

 

The parchment deluxe interior is as nice as it can be.  It has been carefully restored to factory original condition.  You do not see many deluxe interior 1968 Mustangs.  This is a factory deluxe interior fastback and an original fold down seat car.  An upper and lower console are nice accents to a stunning interior.

 

The engine compartment is beautifully detailed to show quality standards.  The engine has been freshly rebuilt.  It starts easily and has no unusual noises.  Everything mechanical in the engine compartment is new or freshly rebuilt.

 

The trunk area is very clean and nicely detailed.  A clean and detailed spare tire, jack, and lug wrench are in place. The steering wheel in the car ia a correct 1968 deluxe parchment steering wheel but not the final restored wheel. The pad has been fully restored and the actual wheel that will ship with the car is at the steering wheel restoration shop. This car deserves a fully restored steering wheel and it is getting one!
