More than $12,000.00 was spent on the body and paint work, and the end result was well worth the expense. There is not a single flaw anywhere to be found on the body of this beautiful Mach 1. Equally nice are the chrome trim, stainless and bright work ... every piece is show quality. All of the glass is new replacement tinted glass, and a perfect compliment to body & paint. The expertly applied stripes in black are a subtle touch on the dark toned paint, as are the aluminum Mach 1 side and tail finish panels. Nothing screams ?muscle? like a shaker hood poking through the hood, and the rear window louvers are another essential touch on any fastback Mustang. The engine is the correct 351 Cleveland, completely rebuilt, restored and properly detailed with all new components. ECS Automotive?s reproduction labels are everywhere, correct date coded and logoed coolant and breather hoses, spark plug wires and wiring harnesses and battery cables. The motor and air cleaner are finished in their proper Ford blue while the engine bay is correct in satin black. Inspection marks abound: This is a car done well enough to keep a Ford expert happy for a long time! As for running condition, the engine starts with the turn of a key and has a throaty growl which must be heard to be appreciated. The rebuilt 351 is mated to a 4 speed close ratio box, also newly rebuilt. Both the engine & transmission have a little more than 200 miles on them, and operate flawlessly. Motive power gets to the ground via the original 3.50 Traction-Lok positraction axle while exhaust energy is taken care of via a set of full length headers, new pipes and Flowmasters.
Underneath, this Mach 1 is ready to rock with its newly restored competition suspension and completely new power disc brake setup. New hoses and lines, a new fuel tank and a fresh coat of sound deadening undercoat combine to make a hell of a driver. The front end?s been gone through, the shocks are new, the steering is tight and the car?s a breeze to drive. Moving to the trunk you?ll find correct black paint with body color on the hinges and jambs, a new trunk mat, the correct jack and the space saver spare. Pack a cooler, pack a couple chairs and head to your favorite hangout spot!
Inside, there are the restored, Mach 1 specific bucket seats (knitted vinyl with horizontal pleats,) deluxe 3-spoke rim-blow steering wheel, special color-keyed carpet, center console with simulated wood-grain trim, molded door panels (simulated wood-grain instrument panel appliqués with Mach1 emblem on the passenger side,) an AM/FM radio, an electric clock and bright-trimmed pedal pads. Everything is in like new, as delivered condition from the carpet to the headliner and from the dash pad to the package tray. Get in get comfy, and get going!
