1983 Was a great year for the Mustang!
The Convertible was reintroduced
for the first time in 10 years!
Not only did the ?83 GT get subtle cosmetic changes which set it apart from its 1982 predecessor - it got faster as well! The ?83 was decked out in blacked-out trim and featured a reversed (non-functional) hood scoop in a broad matte-black stripe that started at the lower edge of the grill and ran back to the base of the windshield.
The big news for ?83 was more horsepower - due primarily to the addition of a healthy Holley 4180C four-barrel. With the Holley 600 four-barrel, dual snorkel ?460? air cleaner, enlarged exhaust passages, an aluminum intake and a less restrictive single-exhaust system (?Y? pipe w/ inline catalyst), the 302 snorted out 18 more horses and five more foot pounds of torque than the ?82 GT.
Mustang fans did had something thing to get excited about in 1983 - 1983 saw the reintroduction of the Mustang convertible for the first time in ten years!
1983 Mustang convertibles were made available in only the GLX and GT series. These convertibles were not actually produced until very late in the model year - May, June, July & August only.
Only 1001 1983 GT convertibles were produced (993 for
This 83 Convertible was part of a collection of cars we found. It?s in need of some work, and would make a great car for a hobbyist or back yard mechanic. It has all the desirable options in a Mustang: Convertible, 5.0 HO V8, and 5 Speed.
It needs some TLC. The previous owner was freshening up the motor; it has Rebuilt Carb, Chrome Valve Covers, New Roller Rockers, and New Cam and some aftermarket parts. Still Needs: Tune up parts like cap/rotor, wires, belt and a radiator, etc. According to the previous owner the keys were lost years ago, but a lock smith can take care if it easily.
The 5.0 is originally from
It looks to be the original 5.0 HO motor and original Holley carburetor. It also looks to have the original exhaust!!! Like I said, it was a California Car until 99 when the previous owner brought it to
The body and interior are in good shape!!!
The Top is in good shape, no holes or tears, just some sun fade!!!
Clean it up a little and it could be a good driver!

It would be a good candidate for restoration being a rare 1983 Convertible!
