 1965 Ford Mustang GT Fastback, Origional K-Code Car/California Car/Complete Restoration

Class Benz Presents its Classic Mustang K-Code Fastback

The K-Code Mustangs were the highest performance Mustangs available from Ford. Next stop was the Shelby Mustang. High performance was more than just a label on this classic automobile. The K-Code engine featured, in addition to the dress up mods, upgraded pistons, cylinder heads, carburator, lifters, and connecting rods. From the engine back the K-Code featured a high performance clutch, drive shaft, rear differential, and suspension. With 271HP (a conserative figure to please the auto insurance companies) The K-Code Mustangs were a force to be reckoned with. This engine was so well done from the factory, that Carroll Shelby used a slightly modified K-Code engine in his legendary Shelby GT 350 and his GT 350R (racing) Mustangs.

This Mustang's  Vehicle I.D. number 5F09K689826 decodes as follows:

5 = the year produced. (1965)

F = the production facility (Dearborne Michigan in this case)

09= the body style (fastback in this case)

K= the 289 high performance engine

689826 = the unit build number

Today, the K-Code Mustangs are highly sought after as there was a very limited number of these cars produced.  From late 1963 to 1967 fewer than 13,000 K-Codes were produced. Factor in the fastback body style and the GT Package and the number shrinks again. This K-Code was treated to a complete rotisserie restoration approximately two years ago. The restoration was not limited to the body and paint, as the interior was re-done as well. The engine was rebuilt to factory specs at the time of the restoration. This is a VERY strong running car. These K-code Mustangs are a piece of automotive history. Here is a great opportunity to own a legend among all of the great Mustangs produced. This classic Mustang is spectacular and needs nothing except to be enjoyed by its new owner at car shows and cruise nights.
