This 1997 Saleen Speedster is without a doupt one of the rarest documented Saleens ever produced. As you may know, Saleen was allowed very few (less than 12 a year) Cobras to modify. This is the only 1997 Cobra Speedster produced, and to up the desireability several steps further, it was also special ordered "SUPERCHARGED"....and the only one painted "EXTREME RAINBOW" !!!

     We are relisting this Saleen as we ended the last sale early do to recieving a deposit from a local buyer who unfortunately could not complete the transaction on the auto. Please be sure your financing is is order prior to bidding on this Saleen. 

     This Extreme Rainbow Speedster has been featured in several magazines, including Popular Hot Rodding, Mustang Illustrated & Mustang Monthly... etc. It has won several awards, including peoples choice and best of show at the annual Steamboat Springs, Colorado;  "Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup".

     This rare Saleen is in prestine condition with only 3850 actual miles, always garaged, and always adult owned, (we purchased the Saleen from the original owner). The car is only taken out on rare occasions to shows, and is always a crowd favorite and award winner. It comes with all the original certificates & sales invoicing, and a photo album documenting shots of it actually being built at Saleen's center in California....including shots of it being unloaded at the local Ford Dealer...off the Ford Motorsports transport.

     This Saleen is #173, and as noted in the photo's, was signed under the hood & on the dash (and on a framed window sticker) by Steve Saleen. Both Steve and Liz are well aquanted with this car personally....it was truly a special project done at the same time the "Rainbow Warrior" wide bodied hard top (#01) was done. This car is not to be confused with a "Mystic Cobra" hardtop by Ford...."Extreme Rainbow" paint is applied entirely differently. The 1996 Mystic cars were base coated in Black....then a deluted (with black) "Mystic" coat was applied....we note this do to the extreme difference in effect that is achieved.....hense the "Extreme Rainbow" name. This Extreme Rainbow paint is a non-deluted BASF, shot over a Blue base. The process is well documented by correspondance between BASF, Saleen, and the original owner we purchased the car from.

    The process was 4-coats dark blue...color sanded...3-coats of Extreme Rainbow....color sanded again....followed by an additional 2-coats of Extreme Rainbow....then 4-coats of urathane clear. The finish then recieved a final wet-sand by hand and polishing, resulting in the exceptional show quality finish achieved. This is by no means a factory Ford assembly line paint job, it was custom ordered and done by Saleen's show painter, including the removal of the engine by Saleen, and the engine compartment being done as well. (The paint option alone cost well over $12,000.00).

    The Vortec Supercharger option was another $5000.00....and took a great deal of negotiating with Ford and Saleen to even be allowed. It features all the other options from Saleen available....including tire & wheel upgrade, etc, and do to the fact it started life as a Cobra donor...and not just a basic GT...it has all the Ford factory upgrades as well....including leather, "Mach 460" sound system, etc.....truly a collectors Item (The original total investment was just shy of $75,000.00). We have a 3-inch note book full of documentation and reciepts with this Saleen as well.

    Please only serious bidders on this car. It will require a $2000.00 deposit within 3-days of sale....the balance do within 10-days. We can help arrange transportation for you at cost, and we will leave the title open in case of overseas sale??...if desired (to save on tax's if you know what we mean).
