It was built by Carroll Shelby exclusively for the Hertz Corporation to be used in their Rent a Racer Program. Each car has a Shelby Serial # just like the classic Shelby of the 60?s. This is Shelby Serial # CSM 07H480. With only 500 convertibles produced and being built by the legendary Carroll Shelby it?s not hard to determine the appreciating value in the years to come. Just look at the first generation Shelby?s most of us could not afford to buy one today. This second generation Shelby is in everyway better than the first. Its faster, handles better, has all the modern safety features like front and side airbags, traction control, and 4 wheel anti-lock disc brakes, and it gets almost twice the gas mileage.
