Here we have a rare 4 Speed Toploader Transmission which is a 65 K code Mustang GT. This unit with the tag of HEH BX is correct for 289 Hipo. This unit is designed to work behine Small Block Fords such as 260, 289, 302, 351 Windsors and Clevelands. This unit should fit early 64 65 66 67 and 68 as well as later 69 70 71 72 73 models.

This unit ( with tag HEH BX and case C5AR-7006-D W-1 ) I acquired back in the 70s. It came out of a 1965 Mustang GT, he took the trany out and put in an automatic so his wife could drive the car. He also told me that this is a trany that was in one of the GT350 race cars back in the 60s ( He was one of the painter for the Ford racing team ). This unit has been in storage for 38 years. The tail shaft has the rear mount consistent with the Mustang mounting positin and has the stronger 28 spline shaft. The gears are good used original and are in slightly worn condition with nice blocking rings and no damage or missing teeth. The gears look to have not been abused. The unit also comes with the shift linkage ( the rods are stock but the shifter is Hurst ) and new shifter bushings.

The unit does have 2 broken mounting holes on the right side, but this can be welded.
