Hi, I am selling my beast
because I need the money. This is a Yamaha 1984 IT490L Dirt bike. It
is a 2-Stroke or 2-Cycle single cylinder engine with 490cc
displacement with a 5 speed gear box. This bike doesn't look very
pretty but mechanically I would give it a 9 out of 10 for an older
bike like this. This bike has mono shock rear suspension. The bike
weighs about 235 pounds. This bike runs perfect and starts in
1-3 kicks when you know how to kick it. It does not have any oil
leaks because all but 1 of the oil seals were just replaced in early
August 2008 (including both crankshaft seals). This bike also has a
basically rebuilt carburetor which consists of a new needle valve and
seat assembly and new jets. This bike also has a Motion Pro quick
disconnect fuel line and a fuel filter. This bike has front and rear
drum brakes. This bike has the stock pipe with no large dents and a
DG silencer with recently replaced packing and a Sparky spark
arrestor. The air filter was also cleaned recently. This bike has an
almost new dual sport rear tire that I think is meant for 80% off
road and 20% street. This bike has a nice new Baja Designs Dual Sport
kit. The kit gives the bike a headlight with high and low beam, front
and rear blinkers, rear taillight and brake light, a horn, and a
battery. The bike also has foldaway mirrors and a digital waterproof
speedometer with a clock, outside temperature gauge, odometer, trip
timer, trip distance, and other features. This bike has a clear title
and the registration was just renewed for on and off road
registration. The street registration expires July 2009 and the OHV
registration expires in June 2010. This is a dual sport bike, which
means it is street legal and it has 2 registration stickers. One
sticker on the license plate and one GREEN OHV registration sticker
on the front forks so you can ride it off road in any season. This
bike is perfectly legal for street use and is RARE
because you cannot convert bikes (especially 2-strokes) that
were not originally street legal to street legal status anymore in
California. I have the bike tuned to run a little lean so that
it does not smoke so much on the street. This bike is also loud just
like a dirt bike because it just has the regular dirt bike exhaust,
but it does have a nice after-market Sparky spark arrestor on it. The
seat was also recovered a few months ago. The bike was kept outside
but under a cover. The bike comes with the cover among other parts.
This bike does power wheelies up to 3rd gear and might do it in the
others but I cannot tell because the clutch starts to slip. This bike
can keep up with a Honda 600RR street bike up to about 55mph and take
it off the start. The top speed of this bike right now with the
current sprocket ratio is about 85mph, it can be changed to get an
estimated top speed of about 105mph. The engine is all stock as far
as I know. I think I am the 3rd owner of this bike. I don't know how
many miles are on this bike because it was originally a dirtbike and
I recently just put on the speedometer/Odometer which now reads 206
miles, and I have put maybe 300 miles on this bike total since
I bought it. This bike has 100% legit paper work, all numbers on the frame and motor match and they are all the same numbers that are on the Pink Slip and both registration papers. You will have a very very hard time finding another bike like this that is 100% legit street legal.
Info for people that
don't know about these kinds of bikes.
If you have never ridden a
bike like this then you should know that this is no grandma cruising
putt putt bike that you take for a ride around the neighborhood.
This bike was made to go fast and make lots of noise and smoke.
It also is not a comfortable cruising bike. It is single cylinder so
it vibrates a lot at certain RPMs. You also have to kick start
this thing like a you mean it, so if you need a workout everyday then
this thing will give it to you. This bike will also build your
wrist up if you ride it on the dirt because it is not easy to hold
the throttle steady, and if you don't then you will either flip over,
fly off a cliff, or start spinning the rear tire.
Email for any questions. Or call 408-370-2407 and CLEARLY leave
your phone # and name and I will call you back.
Problems:
The clutch slips a little
bit when you give it full throttle sometimes, but I am throwing in a
brand new Barnett Clutch Kit (Steel plates, friction plates, and
springs). The gas tank has a leak on the side that I sealed up but it
needs to be resealed every once in a while because it starts to leak
again after a few months. The gas cap is cracked and should be
replaced. The fold down mirrors get blown down in the wind when you
are going too fast. The horn needs to be reattached because the
mounting bracket broke. Bike has no other mechanical or electrical
problems, runs perfect, lots of power.
Shipping
I will not ship the bike,
you must come and pick it up from me or come and drive it away.
I can hold the bike for you for up to a month after I have been fully
paid for it in cash.
Extra's that you get:
Brand New Barnett Clutch kit including friction plates, steel
plates, and springs. 2 Brand new Crankshaft seals, one for each
side, 1 Brand New Shifter oil seal 1 Brand New Clutch push
lever oil seal. 2 Brand New JT rear sprockets, one 40 tooth and
one 52 tooth. 1 Brand New JT 16 tooth front sprocket. A new
Athena Gasket kit (for a YZ490 but most of the gaskets should fit).
A bunch of new spark plugs and 1 Iridum spark plug. A used
ignition switch with key. An extra front sprocket cover A
Brand New set of Boyesen Power Reeds for the reed valves. A bunch
of Brand New Pilot and Main Jets for this bikes carburetor so you can
tune this bike how you want it. I will also throw in a perfect
condition Clymer Repair Manual for this bike. You also get
another box of used motorcycle parts that has some of the original
parts for this bike like the headlight and taillight.
I will also throw in a
brand new Gallon of 2-stroke oil and maybe a brand new motorcycle
cover if I can find it. But I will at least give you my cover
that I am using right now, which is starting to deteriorate.
