1975 YZ 250B RARE - YAMAICO
Vehicle Description

RARE, ONE OF A KIND...1975 YZ 250B YAMAICO monoshock.  As seen a few years ago in Racer X Magazine....

What you are bidding on is a REAL, ORIGINAL PERIOD, restored YAMAICO.  No this is not Ake Jonsson's Yamaico, but it is believed to be one of Bruce Baron's YZ250 privateer bikes from 1975.  I've tried, but can't confirm this... but then again this is one VERY SPECIAL YZ.  The fabrication and precision used to add the forks to the front end while keeping the frame geometry correct is impressive.  So..no....this is not the typical bolted on Maico front end or a hacked frame job.  Whomever did this, knew what they were doing.  The frame required an OW replica pipe, the way Team Yamaha outfitted their factory YZ monoshocks based on the location of the ignition.  The stock YZ gas tank was professionally modified for side to side clearance of the forks. Professional craftsmanship.  No welding or sloppy work here either.  A YZ front hub is used on the forks. Beautiful conversion job. No matter what anyone can say, this is a unique, one of a kind bike.  For the YZ collector, this may be as close to a factory bike as you can get your hands on.  In over 15+ years of Vintage MX racing, restoring and collecting, I've never seen or heard of another one like it (alive).  A true, one of a kind, collectable, rare piece.  You just don't see bikes like this come up for sale often so don't let this chance get away.

The story....I found the frame, complete front end and gas tank lying in a basement over 10 years ago.  It came as part of a package deal with a large number of YZ parts a friend bought from CA.  I bought the frame, front end and tank from him and set about to restore it.  I located the correct 75 YZ 250 motor (since the frame # is from the 250 family).  It has been completely rebuilt from the cases out by a certified Yamaha mechanic.  0 hours.  Fired when assembled..... so yes the original ignition still works.  NOS sidecover, kickstarter. New 36 Mikuni carb.  Monoshock was professionally redone. Right side hand made custom OW replica pipe and stinger.  Everything is new or period correct.  Everything works.  You could ride it if you wanted.  Buchanan stainless HD spokes, CZ bend bars, aftermarket plastic etc, etc, etc....to long to listed everything. European white/red YZ AKE JONSSON REPLICA look.  Restored to beautifully display but not concours.

It is a truly stunning bike and can be viewed in Dave Mungenast Vintage Motorcycle Musuem in St. Louis.

Bill of sale only.  Buyer is responsible for all shipping requirements.  US sales only.
