1965 Mustang   High Performance " K Code" FastBack 2+2. "The Holy Grail" of 1st generation Ford Pony Cars.

This Early Build date (12/17/1964) total numbers matching K Code has impressive provenance. The original owner "Herbert c. Roux" ordered this K code at High Sierra Ford in Bishop, California and took delivery (12/23/1964) . An early Christmas Present for 62 year old Herbert. He quickly ordered early original Shelby performance accessories including Rare Small print Cobra Intake, Shelby Carburator, Shelby Tri Y Headers, BuddyBar valve covers.

He special ordered this K Code as an option delete including radio delete as he looked forward to running this solid lifter "Rocket" at nearby Bakersfield Dragway.

This K Code is a "Survivor" rare in itself. The paint is Phoenician Yellow the rarest color and is approximately 70% original. The body is correct and all original including all imperfections, dents,dings and pinched rear fender wells "Herbert" modified for slicks while preparing for his heat at Bakersfield in 1965. The interior is original with newer carpet, Front Seat Covers and Door Panels. The original door panels and front seat covers are in good condition and are included with the car.

The original rebuilt  numbers matching carburator and intake manifold, shifter,valve covers, Steering Wheel, Exhaust manifolds and complete exhaust system are included.

Also included are a set of correct styled steel wheels and 8 spoke shelby wheels. With the above mentioned parts you have the option to return the K Code to delivery original.

This is a California High desert car in "Great Original Condition". Only one rust spot in the driver side door bottom left. A standard location for repair on all early mustangs.

I have most of the original California registrations dating back to 1966. Proving  both ownership and K Code provenance. I also have the original warranty book and owners card in "Herberts" name plus records making it possible to verify the mileage is accurate at (81,391).

The first 100 Shelby GT 350s are highly prized by collectors and fetch in the $400k to $1Mil mark. Shelby# SFN069 sold at Barrett Jackson in 2007 for over $400K . It is # 69 of the first 100 Shelby GT350s . As shown in the attached photo's its Ford Vin# is 5RO9K165840. The K Code I'm selling coincidentally is the very next K Code off of the San Jose Ca Assembly line # 5RO9K165841 causing many collectors in Shelby circles to mistake it for one of the original 100 Shelby GT350s.

Statistics:

1965 to 1967 Mustang production units 1.7 million in all models.

Only 6711 K Codes were built. It is estimated that less than 1000 were FastBacks.

This Data helps bolster this K Code's rarity and indisputable provenance.
